Legal
Terms of Service
Last updated: 7 October 2026
These terms explain the rules for using Madefolio, a UK online service that helps trade and home improvement businesses turn their completed projects into marketing, a business website and social posts. Please read them before creating an account. By creating an account or using Madefolio, you agree to these terms.
These terms sit alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data, and our data deletion instructions. They do not replace either, or any other information we are legally required to give you.
1. Who we are and how to contact us
Madefolio is provided by [Legal entity name], registered in [England and Wales / Scotland / Northern Ireland] under company number [Company number], with its registered address at [Registered address] ("Madefolio", "we", "us").
You can contact us at hello@madefolio.co.uk.
2. Your account
- Madefolio is designed for businesses. You must be at least 18 and use Madefolio for your trade or related business. If you sign up on behalf of a business, you confirm you are authorised to accept these terms for it.
- Give accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date.
- Keep your password safe and don't share your sign-in with anyone outside your business. Tell us promptly if you think someone has accessed your account without permission.
- You are responsible for activity on your account, unless it happens because of a failure on our part.
3. Acceptable use
When using Madefolio, you agree not to:
- upload or publish anything unlawful, misleading, defamatory, offensive, or that infringes someone else's rights;
- post fake reviews or testimonials, or present work as yours when it isn't;
- send spam or use the enquiry form or publishing tools to harass anyone;
- try to break, overload, reverse-engineer or get unauthorised access to Madefolio or other users' accounts;
- use Madefolio in a way that breaks the rules of a connected platform such as Instagram or Facebook.
4. Plans, billing and changes
Madefolio offers three plans: Free (£0), Solo (£19 per month) and Pro (£39 per month). What each plan includes is shown on our pricing section at the time you choose it.
- Paid plans are billed monthly in advance through Stripe, our payment processor. Prices are in pounds sterling and include VAT. The total payable is shown before you confirm your purchase.
- Paid plans renew automatically each month until you cancel.
- You can cancel at any time from the Plan & billing section of Account settings (using "Manage or cancel subscription"), or by emailing hello@madefolio.co.uk from your account email address. No minimum commitment or additional notice period applies. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current paid billing period, and you keep access to your paid features until then. A request received before renewal stops the next renewal; we will confirm cancellation by email.
- We do not normally refund a billing period that has already started, including if you stop using the service or cancel part-way through it. We will correct duplicate or incorrect charges. If we permanently withdraw the service or end your paid subscription without a breach by you, we will refund the unused portion of your prepaid period. Contact us if you believe a refund is due. Nothing in these terms affects any refund or other rights you have under law.
- You can switch between paid plans from the Plan & billing section of Account settings, or by emailing us. Before any change is made, we show you when it takes effect and what you will pay, and ask you to confirm.
- Downgrades (for example, Pro to Solo) take effect at the end of your current billing period. You keep your existing plan and its features until then, and the lower monthly price applies from that renewal. There is no mid-period charge, credit or refund for a downgrade. You can cancel a pending downgrade before it takes effect.
- Upgrades (for example, Solo to Pro) take effect immediately. You will be charged a proportionate (prorated) amount for the rest of your current billing period, calculated by Stripe and added to your next invoice, and the higher monthly price applies from your next renewal.
- If we change our prices, we will give you at least 30 days' notice. The new price will apply only at a renewal after that notice period. If you don't want to continue, you can cancel before then.
5. When a subscription ends
If you cancel a paid plan, your account moves to Free at the end of your paid billing period, rather than being closed. Features that aren't part of Free will no longer be available. If a payment fails, we will notify you and allow at least seven days to resolve it before restricting paid features or moving you to Free. We will not publish new posts unless you choose to; any scheduled posts that require a paid feature will not be sent after that feature ends.
Moving to Free does not itself delete your existing website, projects or content. On the Free plan your public website displays your single featured job only. Any additional jobs remain safely stored in your account but will not be published on your website until you reactivate a Solo or Pro subscription. Existing content is retained while your account remains open, and you can contact us to request a copy of your content.
If you close your account or request deletion, your public website is taken offline and we delete or anonymise associated personal data within 30 days of verifying your request, subject to any lawful extension or retention requirement explained to you. Some billing records may need to be retained for legal or accounting purposes, and backup copies may remain temporarily until the normal backup cycle replaces them. See our Privacy Policy and data deletion instructions. Cancellation alone is not a request to delete your account.
6. Your content
"Your content" means anything you add to Madefolio: text, photos, logos, project details, customer details, reviews and testimonials.
- You own your content. We don't claim ownership of it.
- You are responsible for it. You confirm you have the right to upload and publish it — for example, permission from the photographer, from homeowners whose property appears in photos, and from customers whose names, reviews or testimonials you use.
- You are responsible for making sure your content is accurate and complies with the law, including consumer protection and advertising rules.
7. How we use your content
You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free permission to store, copy, process, adapt and display your content only as needed to provide Madefolio to you. This includes:
- showing your public business website and project pages at your unique URL;
- generating marketing text, captions and post suggestions from your project details and photos;
- publishing content to connected platforms when you choose to publish or schedule it.
This permission ends when your content is deleted, except where copies have already been published to third-party platforms at your request or must be kept for legal reasons. We will not use your content in our own marketing without asking you first.
8. Generated content and publishing
Madefolio can write suggested text for your projects. Generated text may contain mistakes. You must review and edit it where needed before you publish or use it. Nothing is posted to a connected account unless you choose to publish it or schedule it.
You are responsible for content you publish or schedule and for following the laws and platform rules that apply to it.
9. Integrations and third-party services
- Instagram and Facebook publishing is available through a connection you authorise with Meta. You can disconnect at any time from Connections.
- Google Business and TikTok publishing are coming soon and are not currently available. Madefolio can write text you can copy into your Google Business listing yourself, but it does not post to Google Business directly.
- Third-party services are run by other companies under their own terms. They can change, limit or withdraw their features, require you to reconnect, or have outages. We cannot promise that any integration will always be available or that every post will be accepted.
- Email notifications and other features may depend on third-party providers and may occasionally be delayed or fail. Enquiries are still saved in your account.
10. Our intellectual property
Madefolio, including its software, design, branding and website templates, belongs to us or our licensors. While your account is active and you follow these terms, we give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Madefolio for your business. You may not copy, resell or redistribute the service itself.
11. Availability, support and changes
- We aim to keep Madefolio running reliably but can't guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We may need to pause it for maintenance, updates or security reasons, and will try to give notice of planned maintenance where reasonable.
- Support is provided by email at hello@madefolio.co.uk.
- We may improve, change or remove features over time. If a change significantly reduces what your paid plan includes, we will tell you in advance and you can cancel.
12. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or close your account if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if payment is overdue, if your use puts Madefolio, other users or the public at risk, or if we are required to by law.
Where reasonable, we will tell you first, explain why, and give you a chance to fix the problem. We may act immediately where the issue is serious, illegal or urgent. If you think we've made a mistake, contact us and we will review it.
You can stop using Madefolio and close your account at any time.
13. Our responsibility to you
- Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded under the law of the United Kingdom.
- Madefolio is a tool for businesses. We are not responsible for loss of profits, sales, business or opportunity, or for indirect or consequential losses.
- We are not responsible for the independent actions of third-party platforms or for content you upload, publish or schedule, except to the extent a loss is caused by our own breach of these terms or negligence.
- Subject to the points above and to the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for claims arising from the same event or connected events is limited to the greater of £100 or the fees you paid to Madefolio in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. This limit applies whether a claim arises in contract, negligence or otherwise, but does not restrict any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you don't agree with the changes, you can cancel before they apply.
15. Governing law
These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Subject to any mandatory rights under applicable law, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any concern informally; this does not prevent you from exercising your legal rights.
